Day 5

Today we went to the beach with two of the teachers from the school, Hector, and his wife. The two teachers were freezing because it was around 75* all day. They didn't even know how to swim. Nobody was at the beach because it was cold and overcast so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. We went swimming in the Caribbean Ocean. We didn't do much today because it took so long to get to the beach. We drove longer than usual and had two extra people. Today was another interesting day for communication. Neither of the teachers spoke English but knew sign language, and Hector and his wife are deaf. This post is soo short because we really didn't do much today.

  1. We are not cold enough here. Sorry to say the snow is melting with this balmy 40* weather here. And knowing how to swim is not as common as you might expect down in those Caribbean islands. Maybe it is because the ocean is the most available and that is salt water. We are used to fresh water where you have to know how to swim to stay afloat. Ask around. I bet there are few classes either.

So, did you get Spaghetti at the beach? Are you getting a tan? Are you using the bug spray? Will you go to a Spanish church tomorrow? Is there any water from the city yet? Are you planning on swimming at the hotel?

Praying for you every time I think of you and have enjoyed your notes. Mom

  3. The two teachers from the school brought spaghetti it was really good. We couldn't warm it up because we were at the beach but it was still good. Graham and I got burnt pretty bad but we put vinegar on it and it felt better for a while. For info on the Spanish church see my current post, we do have water from the city every now and then, and we have not gone to the hotel yet.
